Is Solar Worth It for a Delhi Home? Costs, Savings & What to Expect

How much solar really saves a Delhi home, grid-tied vs hybrid, and what affects payback — in plain terms.

Solar can meaningfully cut a Delhi home's electricity bill, but whether it's 'worth it' depends on your roof, your usage and your goal. Here's an honest overview before you invest.

Where the savings come from

Solar offsets the grid power you'd otherwise buy during daylight. With net metering, any surplus you generate is exported and credited against what you import at night — so a well-sized system can cut a large slice off your monthly bill.

Grid-tied vs hybrid: pick by your goal

How much roof do you need?

As a rule of thumb, allow about 80–100 sq ft of shade-free roof per kW. A small home system might be 1–3 kW; we assess your roof and consumption to size it properly.

What affects payback

  • System size vs your actual daytime usage
  • How much shade falls on the roof through the day
  • Whether net metering is available on your connection
  • Grid-tied (faster payback) vs hybrid (adds battery cost)
  • Any government subsidy you qualify for

A note on subsidies

Residential rooftop solar subsidies are offered under central and state schemes, but eligibility and amounts change over time. We help you check what currently applies to your connection before you commit — we won't quote a figure that may be out of date.

What to expect from us

We assess your roof and load, design the right system (panels plus a PCU or grid-tied inverter), install it, and service it on-site across Delhi NCR.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will solar completely eliminate my electricity bill?

Rarely to zero, but a well-sized system can cut a large share of it. The exact saving depends on your roof, system size and how much power you use during the day.

Does rooftop solar work during a power cut?

A standard grid-tied system shuts off during outages for safety. If you want power during cuts, choose a hybrid system with batteries — we'll explain the cost trade-off.

How long is the payback?

It varies with system size, usage and any subsidy, but grid-tied home systems typically pay back over a few years. We'll give you an estimate based on your actual bill.
