The Right Inverter for a 2BHK Flat in Delhi: A Real-World Setup Guide
A real 2BHK load breakdown, the model we'd actually fit, and the backup you'd get — no guesswork.
A 2BHK flat — a DDA flat in Rohini, a builder floor in Uttam Nagar, or a society flat in Dwarka — is the single most common setup we kit out at Nice Power System. So instead of vague advice, here's exactly what we'd recommend for one, using a real load breakdown.
A realistic 2BHK backup load
Most families don't want to run everything during a cut — just the essentials, so the evening feels normal. Here's a typical load we size for:
| Appliance | Qty | Watts each | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ceiling fans | 3 | 75 W | 225 W |
| LED lights | 6 | 12 W | 72 W |
| LED TV + set-top box | 1 | 120 W | 120 W |
| Wi-Fi router | 1 | 20 W | 20 W |
| Phone / laptop charging | — | — | 60 W |
| Refrigerator (optional) | 1 | 200 W | 200 W |
Typical 2BHK evening backup load
That's roughly 500W of essentials, or about 700W if you want the fridge on backup too.
The inverter we'd fit
Allowing for the power factor and a safety margin, a ~500W load needs around 900–1100VA. We'd fit a pure sine wave 1100VA inverter such as the Microtek LUXE 1400 — it has headroom to add a fridge later and runs the TV and fridge cleanly. If you definitely want the fridge plus more rooms, step up to ~1500–1650VA (LUXE 1900).
How long will it actually back up?
Backup time comes from the battery. Using backup hours ≈ (Ah × 12 × 0.8) ÷ load, here's a 2BHK at ~500W:
| Battery | Approx. backup |
|---|---|
| 150Ah tubular | about 3 hours |
| 200Ah tubular | about 4 hours |
Approximate backup at a ~500W load
What it costs to run
The electricity to recharge the battery each day is modest. The real running cost is the battery itself — a tubular battery lasts about 4–5 years, so budget for replacement down the line. A lithium battery costs more upfront but lasts far longer, which can work out cheaper per year.
Our standard 2BHK recommendation
- Pure sine wave inverter, ~1100VA (Microtek LUXE 1400 class)
- 150Ah battery for short cuts, 200Ah if cuts are long or you want the fridge on backup
- Tall tubular (Dura Strong) where outages are frequent and long
- A battery trolley for ventilation and to keep it off the floor
- Home installation, old-battery exchange and on-site service — included

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this 2BHK setup run my air conditioner?
No — an AC needs a high-capacity system (1.5kVA+ and a larger battery bank). The setup here is for lights, fans, TV, Wi-Fi and optionally a fridge. If you want AC backup, ask us about the Jumbo Home UPS range.
1100VA or 1500VA for a 2BHK?
1100VA comfortably covers the essentials of a typical 2BHK. Choose 1500–1650VA if you'll run a refrigerator plus several rooms together, or want long-term headroom.
150Ah or 200Ah battery?
150Ah suits short, occasional cuts; 200Ah gives roughly an extra hour and is worth it where evening cuts run long. We'll match it to your area's typical outages.
